I've lived in Washington, D.C., for six years. I was born in Indiana, Pa., not far from where Punxsutawney Phil makes his yearly predictions, but spent most of my formative years in Portland, Ore. I like to think I've absorbed the best of both coasts over the years. I've lived abroad in Riga, Latvia, and Cairo, Egypt, spending time in many countries in Europe and the Middle East. In the fall, I had the opportunity to visit Chile and Argentina, crossing another continent off my travel bucket list. I strive to learn as much as possible about the world around me and embrace every opportunity to gain knowledge. I believe my curiosity, creativity, ambition, discipline, and good humor are my greatest strengths.
I volunteer with a number of nonprofit organizations, including A Child's Promise International, Girls on the Run DC, and Washington Literacy Center. In the past I have volunteered with Posse DC, DailySource.org, Marley's Cat Tales, and HorseNet Horse Rescue. I'm passionate about communicating the struggles of those in need as well as coordinating and participating in activities to alleviate those struggles. I have met many great people at each of these organizations and continue to be humbled by the opportunity to better the lives of others.
