I’m currently enrolled in a weekend master’s program in Interactive Journalism at American University in Washington, D.C. This page began as a product of what I learned during Web Design Studio, the first course of the 20-month program. It has evolved into a place to share my volunteer activities, favorite websites and photos as well as showcase my coursework. A career in journalism has been an unwavering ambition since the 4th grade. While journalism has changed and continues to change rapidly, my desire to find my place in the field is stronger than ever.
Outside of graduate school, I work at the American University's Kogod School of Business as a web content coordinator. I also volunteer with a number of nonprofit organizations, including the Washington Literacy Council, Posse DC, DailySource.org, Marley’s Cat Tales, and HorseNet Horse Rescue. I’m passionate about communicating the struggles of those in need as well as coordinating and participating in activities to alleviate those struggles. I have met many great people at each of these organizations and continue to be humbled by the opportunity to better the lives of others (two- and four-legged).
My interest in health and fitness, which began as an effort to take better care of myself after college has become a personal passion. I enjoy running, hiking, and working out at the gym. In the future, I hope to combine my enthusiasm for writing and healthy living and make a career of educating and inspiring others to eat well and exercise.
In what little free time I have left over, I enjoy reading, exercising, exploring D.C., having dinner with friends, sampling Chardonnays and learning the ins and outs of new media. I strive to learn as much as possible about the world around me and embrace every opportunity to gain knowledge. I believe my curiousity, creativity, ambition, discipline and good humor are my greatest strengths.

Tasty organic drinks made with honey and other natural flavors, including Bee Alive (Blood Orange) and Bee Strong (Blueberry). Think a cross between iced tea (minus the tea) and juice. Find Honeydrop products at Whole Foods and other organic food stores.
Happy hour at Oyamel
Serving my favorite margarita in D.C. for just $4 between 4:30 and 6:30! Get there early as the bar fills up fast. The guacamole isn’t on the happy hour menu, but don’t miss it!
